I finally transplanted this tree to its permanent spot in the Hemlock Garden. It is backed by the big hemlock, Chamaecyparis o. 'Crippsii', and Acer p. 'Emperor One'. Each year, a few leaves are completely white.

I went with a group of Garden Gals to Brian Upchurch's nursery in South Asheville. On the tour he gave me a tree in a 4" pot. It was a tree that is highly sought after and not easy to find - The Wedding Cake Tree. I planted it in the Courtyard to keep an eye on it for a couple years.
